Calvados combines the beaches of the Côte Fleurie, the D-Day sites, hedgerow countryside and historic towns. Close to Paris, it is an ideal destination for a camping stay, even a short one.
Caen has the most campsites, followed by Bayeux, Deauville, Arromanches-les-Bains, Cabourg, Honfleur and Merville-Franceville-Plage. The Côte Fleurie, from Honfleur to Cabourg, is the most expensive in summer. The Côte de Nacre and the D-Day beaches, around Arromanches and Bayeux, often offer better prices.
June and September are the best months for low prices. Outside school holidays, a camping weekend remains affordable, and the beaches and D-Day sites are largely free to visit.
